i was beaming with pride that i actually woke up at 8.30am without setting an alarm even though i slept at like, 2am the previous night. so i did my weekly groceries shopping bright and early and came back to log on to msn, wanting to share my sudden joy with everyone.
it was 10.30am singapore time and not many were online. it took me a while to realise that it was vesak day, dang.
i hate public holidays because my msn list becomes deserted and i can’t blabber.
oh well, hope everyone had a good day yesterday.

greetings from down under!
i’m still loving this place lots, with the super fresh air and the great weather. there’s this smell in canberra’s air and it made me happy to be back.
i was a little moody about having to leave everyone in singapore but the moment i landed in australia, the moodiness vanished. that’s despite getting on-and-off sleep (the kind i detest most) on the plane.
when i wasn’t sleeping i was replaying scenes from the 3 month holiday. i have this habit of going back in time, recalling what i was doing 24 hours ago, 2 days ago, a week ago, etc. etc. there’s so many things i did these 3 months i think i really should put up a summary.
am really glad i made it here safely cos things always happen to me. i would have missed the bus from sydney to canberra this morning if i wasn’t so damn kiasu and inquisitive. the bus didn’t stop where it was supposed to but across the road some distance away. thank goodness i walked over to find out if that was my bus or i’d be stranded at sydney airport again.
there was this bout of laughter within me when i opened my eyes sometime towards the end of the bus journey. the grass was simply brown, a definite hint canberra wasn’t far away.
unpacking is like packing, it’s a pain in the ass. but i’m done with it and i’m all ready for the new semester, just that i haven’t gone groceries shopping yet and i need to clear space for this semester’s books and files.
i’m darn tired but i think i’ll survive.
it’s 2008 and i refuse to do a recap on 2007 cos that’s what everybody does and besides, i’m lazy.
but there’s plenty of things i need to do in 2008:
1) pay off some debts before i fly off for my last semester
2) figure out why i’m such a procrastinator, how i can stop being such an idiotic procrastinator
3) work my ass off for the final semester which might be the very last semester in my entire life
4) find a fantastic job when i return
5) pay off more debts
yeah that’s about all i can think of for the time being.
and to start off the year, i’m proud to declare that i’ve figured things out. i am happy again.
right, let’s hope 2008 will be a good year!

a merry christmas to everyone out there.
i’m all ready for 2008 and i’m keeping all my fingers and toes twisted, praying really hard that next year would be fantastic one. i’ve had enough crap this year and i’m not gonna bring it along with me to 2008. no, these ghosts from 2007 shall haunt me no more.

who’s hiding them?
happy mid-autumn-mooncake-lantern festival, people.
i’m mooncake-less this year and even though i’ve never finished more than 1 mooncake every year, i suddenly feel like having some. i just can’t find any over here, damn.
and to those unenlightened souls, there are mooncakes with red bean fillings and yes, they’re my favourite.
happy public holiday national day, people.
may we all grow to love singapore more.
and to immerse myself in the singaporean-ly mood, i’m having leftover chicken rice for dinner. it isn’t as good as what’s in the picture, of course. but better than nothing lah.
i’m sure glad i don’t have to be in the homeland this month, bombarded by patriotic songs and red-and-white banners and residents committees all over the island vying to hang the most national flags in their area and national day rallies and the ndp parade monopolizing tv channels.
or happy holidays.

happy chinese new year to all of you out there!!this is the first time i’m away from home for chinese new year and man, i miss the cny mood and reunion dinner and eating all the cny goodies. there’s absolutely zero cny mood here, though i had dinner with the house owner’s family.
luckily for me the extended family didn’t turn up. so it was just me and them. which wasn’t too bad.
their daughters, just a few years younger than me, were friendly and chatty, like most australians. the japanese exchange student living with them is uber cute in expressing herself.
and i realised the very fierce looking male owner is just quiet, that’s all.
it was nice not having to face the wall while having dinner alone, silently. and there was a spread of chinese food and, get this, nian gao!
it wasn’t too bad, after all.
p.s. it’s been warmer these few nights. no more sweaters for the time being!
i have this habit of storing things i don’t want to think about anymore deep in my mind. these issues can be important ones which i’ve given up on and hurt to think about. thus burying them deep inside the memory box.
then by some random chance i’ll remember all about these events. eeeeek. it’s been happening a lot recently. and it’s like ouch, ouch, ouch.
another random thing: caught a glimpse of an online ad, which reminded me of the dream i had last night, or was it this morning. it was scary enough (cos it’s something i wouldn’t want to happen) to be classified as a nightmare. now i remember why i woke up an hour earlier than usual.
by the way, it’s getting kind of cold, for tropical standards.by the way by the way, happy tangyuan day.
i was supposed to be in bugis yesterday, so i made my way in the never-ending rain. with full makeup on and dressed nicely, cos i was supposed to attend an interview which was cancelled at the last minute (their fault, not mine).
while on the train i decided it was too crowded for my liking, so i got off at clementi. and took a bus to bugis. forgetting that the bus goes through orchard, and that orchard gets obscene traffic jams on rainy days. forgetting to grab a quick lunch first. so i was stuck on the bus for two hours, getting an overdose of watching rain beating against the bus windows. somewhere around the time my stomach was really hurting from being starved, this lady boarded the bus, with some food that really tempted me with its smells.
by the time i got to bugis, it was still raining. so i dug out my wet umbrella and forgetting that it was wet, shook it in my own face. don’t ask me why i shook it, i don’t get it too. some kaypoh kids at the bus-stop saw that and laughed.
later in the afternoon, i happened to walk by a stall selling a pretty necklace i decided i should get. just as i picked it up, my phone rang. it was a friend i was supposed to get some stuff from. and i walked over to nlb to get the pathetic piece of paper (which i later realise i didn’t need), forgetting all about the necklace. until i was on the train back home, that is.
it’s amazing how many silly things i can do in a day.
but anyway,

am too lazy to send out personalised cards this year, so make do with this attempt!
merry xmas to all!
*i finally got off my lazy ass and downloaded firefox. now i can blog normally again.
yes, a happy chinese new year to all!
i’m still internet-less and computer-less, with less frequent visits to the campus.
yes, it’s 31st of december and i’m sitting around at home instead of out partying. not that i mind it very much, i’m a semi-hermit to start with.

i still have a couple of xmas cards that are still unsent, cos i don’t keep track of people’s latest email addresses. erm so don’t be surprised if i send you some file over msn suddenly the next few days (weeks).
and being 31st december, how can i not do a memory replay of 2005?
and memories are great and a whole lot easier with the help of some visual aids.

let’s see some of the things i have done this year:
- may 09th to july: went through attachment hell, with a great attachment mate who kept me sane. though she still drives me insane from time to time.
- june: turned 21 years old
- july: got my first manicure and pedicure
- dec 10th: mayday final home concert 2005
- broke my personal record for grades
- image revamp:
- got a fresh new haircut and new glasses after cny 2005. funky new look!
- bought a skirt for the first time, in dinosaur years.
- first-time owner and user of makeup in the first half of the year. now it’s left in the cupboard collecting dust.
- decided to revolutionize the wardrobe. got rid of a load of horrendous impulse purchases. which explains the sudden increase in new black tops, black is versatile.
- yes, i bought 2 pairs of heels too. the second pair of ultra-gu-niang heels gave me HUGE blisters the other day. and i had six bloody plasters on my feet.
uh oh, i think i reached the end of the list.
but here’s some stuff in the collage that i am still hankering after:
- a red mini cooper with twin white stripes
- an apple powerbook
- a white ipod nano
- an aarnio eero globe chair / an arne jacobsen egg chair
- nokia 7610 in black
- some savings
ok, next year will be more happening. but no new year resolutions, cos they’re a waste of time. who ever keeps to resolutions?!
happy 2006 in 4 hours’ time, everyone!
